Missing Link – prayer concerns, May 2010

Detail from Abbey chair

Our church prayer group (‘Missing Link’) meets on the last Wednesday of the month, and we focus on current matters of concern in our community and the world. Please contact us if you would like us to pray for yourself, someone else, or any other concerns – contact information for the minister and the website team is available here

A monthly bulletin of prayer concerns is distributed to church members, and an online versions of this is available every month on our prayer resources page

Interesting neighbours …

Swans on Perchy Pond

Many people local to the area, including quite a few of our church, will have visited Greenhead Moss Community Nature Park – and perhaps some will share the view of Rev. Mhorag that it’s one of the best features of Cambusnethan!

It’s great to see that there is now a website for Greenhead Moss full of interesting information about it. From a recent news update, it seems that otters and Kestrels, sparrowhawks and a Tawny owl with young have all been our neighbours. What a great place to have on our doorstep!

Christian Aid’s Election Manifesto

In response to the imminent General Election, Christian Aid has prepared a manifesto, in which they have “set out key steps that the next government must take in five different areas if it is to tackle both the symptoms and the causes of poverty across the world”. This is available (as a pdf file) here

… and spokespeople from the Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats have each responded to the contents of Christian Aid’s manifesto here

Interesting reading as we prepare to go to the polls …

Caring for our Church

We are holding a meeting on 11th May at 7.30pm for our congregation to become more involved in caring for our church, halls and grounds. For more details about this, please read the information posted on the news page

We urgently need help – people who are prepared to help with cleaning, gardening, grass-cutting, painting, joinery and electrical work  – even if you can only spare a few hours a month, or give us advice, it will make a difference.

Photos …

If you have photos of the local area, or perhaps even short videos, you might like to add them to the Cambusnethan North Church group on Flickr. Photos don’t need to be of the Church specifically, but could be of Cambusnethan, the Perchy and Greenhead Moss, other areas in Wishaw, and other local Churches and events. We plan to feature some of your photos from the Flickr group on this blog. (If you don’t already have a Flickr account, you could sign up for a free one).
